The Dalton State Cycling team is having a very successful early 2012 season.
The teams first race was in Gainesville, Florida at the University of Florida Swamp Classic. Ethan Williams, in his first collegiate race, placed 4th in the technical circuit race, 4th in the time trial, and 1st in the criterium. Ethan Zehr racing category "B" was well placed for a 3rd place sprint finish in the circuit race. Nolan Wehr won the time trial for the "C" catergory.
The team's recent weekend was in Tallahassee, Florida for the Seminole Cycling Classic. It was the teams strongest weekend to date. Williams won the time trail and road race with commanding margins. Williams' strength allowed him for a quick upgrade into the "C" category. Wehr placed first in the time trail and placed 5th in the road race sprint finish. Ethan Zehr broke away in the "B" road race and fought to keep a hold ahead of the peloton but was caught and finished in the sprint. Zehr also fought numbness in freezing temperatures to fight for 8th place in the "B" crit race.
The team is looking forward to their upcoming races. The early season is very promising and more top finishes and wins are anticipated. The team will also look forward to the return of Julian Zehr, who will hopefully return soon from injury. The team is excited for the next race at Georgia Southern.
